How to sew a womens cape throw, tips and ideas

I’ve had this idea of whimsical design cape in my head for a while by now , and finally it materialized into this very unusual , vey cute , fun and romantic cape. The idea of this look was inspired by 1920s Gatsby , Edwardian era. I love the look of them and it Looks like capes are here to stay ! Why not combine them with now styles of jeans, skirts or a basic dress? It will make a gorgeous, unforgettable statement for any special occasion as well ! I also was really perplexed with the amount of lace pieces leftovers from my constant and ongoing projects. So I put them into use ! I took a basic white cotton with interesting texture fabric for foundation and cut it out from using my vintage pattern for capes, I improvised a little too, but adjusting the length too, I made it longer on the back. Then, I sewed the pieces of different colors of lace to create this whimsical look. I prepared them separately by cutting them into different pieces and piling them up ,before starting to sew them on, then it’s a piece of cake ! Easily sewing them on and on. Though, process was quite tedious but rewarding in an end. After it was all done I finished all of the edges with ivory coffee dyed vintage laces , and made them to tight up on the front with a pretty bow. I’m thinking to make this design ongoing with different foundations , looks and colors scraps of all kinds of fabrics are available, right ?! This happy design is suitable for any sizes – from small to plus size! Convo me in case of any questions please !
